Statutory amendments, maximum price
A new law was enacted on 23 May 2024 to maintain the maximum price for small and medium enterprises.
The maximum price of PLN 693 per megawatt hour (MWh) will continue to apply until 31 Dec 2024.
Each eligible enterprise should check if this assistance does not exceed the state aid limits under EU law.
Electricity price projections
The maximum price should not be expected to be maintained for 2025. The market rates are currently below PLN 693/MWh.
According to experts from a leading energy consultancy who cooperate with Sendero, today is the best time to order electricity for 2027-2029 as prices are expected to increase. The reasons are changes to EU’s Green Deal and the carbon certificate reduction.
Changes in energy law
Energy law witnessed certain changes in late 2023 relating to customers’ right to terminate their contracts.
With this in mind, you are advised to check:
- if your use of maximum energy prices as an SME does not exceed state aid limits;
- whether your customer may replace you with another vendor to achieve a better price than PLN 698/MWh;
- what prices you will be paying from early 2025 as a customer and whether you should change your vendor or renegotiate your signed contract;
- whether you should use this time to perhaps order electricity for the future, including for 2027-2029.
