Good advice: think ahead about what happens to your estate after your death.
If you live outside Poland, you are advised to prepare a last will and testament indicating that your home country’s law shall be the law of the estate and inheritance after your death. Otherwise your succession will be dealt with according to foreign law. It’s worth being aware that moving abroad may have major legal and financial consequences for your heirs. For example, the deceased may have worked in one EU Member State and lived or held assets in another. There are plenty of configurations possible here. Which law will then govern the inheritance in what is called cross-border succession?
